D10 Education and development tools: A user guide

Tuesday 30 August 2016
12:30-14:00
Hilton Buenos Aires : Atlantico C, 1.5 hours

Organised by the FIPEd

Simultaneous translation in Spanish

Introduction

This session charts the development of global leadership in professional education by FIP. The current status of the FIP Education Initiative and its project reports will be presented. Participants will be invited to engage with the vision and strategic plans of FIPEd, demonstrate examples of the application of FIPEd tools and evidence to help solve national challenges in education, and join in a debate on how educational leadership can be translated into local visions for developing the profession. An important part of this session will be the launch of the 2016 Education Development Team (EDT) Technical Report; past FIPEd technical reports have become important guidance and policy direction publications for members, member associations and a wider audience. This session will also highlight specific areas of global pharmacy education and activity within the EDT. All our reports and publications are available on the FIP website and are widely cited.

This session will provide the opportunity for members and member organisations to see the results of EDT work, to comment on them and provide ideas for further areas of interest.

Learning objectives

At the conclusion of this knowledge-based session, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the role of the EDT in the governance of FIPEd
  2. Identify the content and key messages of the 2016 FIPEd Technical Report
  3. Describe how global projects of FIPEd and their outcomes can be applied locally or transnationally
  4. Define the relevance and importance of the issues described in the technical reports and other EDT tools to the ongoing development of the pharmacy profession.
